Overview
The Medical Education Unit (MEU) is a dedicated academic body committed to improving the quality of medical education by strengthening teaching–learning methods, assessment practices, and learner-centered education. It supports faculty members in adopting modern teaching strategies, effective curriculum planning, and innovative instructional approaches that enhance both classroom and clinical learning.
The unit regularly coordinates faculty development programs, workshops, and training sessions to upgrade the teaching skills of medical educators. It also promotes educational innovation and research aligned with the principles of Competency Based Medical Education (CBME), ensuring that students develop the required competencies for professional medical practice while maintaining high academic and ethical standards.
Objectives
Faculty Development
Plan and conduct Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), CME and workshops to ensure continuous professional growth.
Competency-Based Teaching
Promote competency-based teaching methodologies and workplace-based assessments to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Curriculum Support
Support curriculum delivery through seamless integration and vertical/horizontal alignment across medical departments.
Research & Innovation
Encourage medical education research, fostering innovation and the adoption of global best practices in pedagogy.
Feedback Systems
Strengthen structured feedback systems for both students and faculty to maintain high educational standards.

Functions & Responsibilities
- Conduct regular FDP sessions (microteaching, lesson planning, OSCE/OSPE, MCQ writing).
- Develop and maintain a yearly MEU academic calendar and training plan.
- Support departments in implementing CBME, AETCOM, skill-based learning and assessment blueprints.
- Maintain records of all academic activities: attendance, minutes, action taken reports.
- Provide mentoring support for new faculty and academic coordinators.
